A General knowledge on the DDR process through other courses and/or experience is mandatory in advance of the course.
The course will manly be built on short general orientations with following case studies in syndicates.
Course language is English in regard to the international participants and instructors. Food and accommodation during the course is 350 NOK a day. (Approx. 60 USD per day). Travel expenses are to be paid by sending unit/country. Be aware of, if needed, that it is the sending countries/organization’s responsibility to arrange visa for the participants.

This course is aimed at bringing together people working in this field to share best practices and lessons learnt from reintegration experiences in different parts of the world. The course will build and enhance the skills and knowledge of participants so as to be able to improve the quality of the work of reintegration. It will support participants in assessing local realities and help to design, implement and coordinate tailored reintegration efforts more effectively, ensuring that future work measures up to IDDR standards

Participants have to cover their own travel and accommodation costs (full board accommodation for duration of the course: GBP £500.00). Limited bursary help is available Criteria for Application:
• Completed a DDR training course OR have experience of working in a DDR mission or similar experience
• at least 2 years relevant field experience in a conflict or post-conflict environment
• at least 2 years professional experience in a occupation relevant to reintegration, such as social work, counseling, mental health, job creation, careers advice, community relations, teaching, vocational training, project planning, management, military or government service.
• good physical and mental health
•an excellent command of both written and spoken English (Council of Europe English B1)

A 2-week course, delivered in conjunction with staff of the PPC. Utilizing the IDDRS topics the KAIPTC DDR course has been specifically adapted for the West African sub-region. The aim of the course is to enhance regional peacekeeping capacity by providing those attending the course with a thorough understanding of the principles and procedures involved in the planning, co-ordination and conduct of DDR. DDR is examined from the civilian, military and police perspectives.
